Assonanzen sind in der Musik Intervalle, die weder rein konsonant noch echt dissonant sind, in der Lyrik Halbreime, die denen die betonten Silben zweier oder mehrere benachbarter Wörter den gleichen vokalischen Laut besitzen. Schöllhorn hat daraus eine köstliche Spielerei gemacht. Le procédé est riche de sens car il pousse un peu plus loin encore la longue confrontation entre le clavier et les instruments qu'il accompagne ou qui l'accompagnent. Il y a en effet une optique, une vision inversant le rôle de cet instrument prévu à sa genèse antique pour accompagner, puis pour briller (au point de ne plus accepter chez les Romantiques d'apparaitre autrement qu'en premier : Sonate pour <span style='mso-bidi-font-style:italic'>piano</span> et violoncelle) et ici se prendre pour l'orchestre lui-même auquel il apporte la couleur poétique, se fondant discrètement á lui pour lui laisser développer, comme aurait de le faire un soliste, la thématique énoncée.
